Screaming in Space Begets Silence, by Jennifer Weigel

Coming at’cha every Sunday at noon Eastern Standard Time EST – here’s more creative content craziness from Jennifer Weigel…

Daedalus’ Lament

I knew from the moment we left Earth’s orbit that I would lose you. You never did follow directions or recognize your own limitations – you were always too easily enthralled by the vast, unending reaches of the unknown, by the possibility of exploration, by your own unquenchable curiosity.

Icarus’ Lament

I flew too close to the sun and now I am alone, adrift in the vacuum of space with only my hubris as my sole and final companion as I am left to accept the folly of my actions, the solar burnout and shutdown of my starship. Here even the darkness and the light are not empty, and they hunger for flesh, for bone, for the unspoken thoughts that sit on the tip of the tongue and murmur at the brink of insanity.

The Gods’ Lament

You were never meant to voyage this far beyond of your mere mortal coil, your human understanding, the gift that you call life. Out here in the farthest reaches of space, the light and the darkness are one and the same – whether hot or cold both burn away all to dust and ash.
