Coming at’cha every Sunday at noon Eastern Standard Time EST – here’s more creative content craziness from Jennifer Weigel…

Trip trap trip trap.
Every day the same
more goats cross over
the bridge between worlds
going from wild to domesticated,
longing to eat the tender green grass
without ever understanding its true cost.
Trip trap trip trap.
Yet every day the same
I try my best to save them
as they traipse across the bridge
to be ensnared by the humans’ lust
for their milk, meat, fur, horn, and hoof,
warning them of dangers on the other side.
Trip trap trip trap.
And every day the same
the goats confuse my clamor,
thinking it is I who would eat them,
and the largest among them shoves me
from my sentry and back into the cold river;
too many cross while I hurry back up to my station.
Trip trap trip trap.
But every night I weep
for the goats that don’t return,
as the scrublands grow all too quiet
without so many click-clacking hooves,
and I vow not to let any more goats cross over,
growing even harsher and sterner in my convictions.
