Mastery is carried in the hands, eyes, and mind,
having been built over time through repetition –
it smells of sweat and perseverance,
constructing competence and crafting capability.
Genuine results aren’t easy or immediate
and don’t offer instant gratification –
we must practice in order to make perfect
over and over and over again.
But ticks only ever feed three times
over the whole of their lives –
they must suck all of the vigor that they can
during the briefest of engagements.
When rushing to seek recognition and respect,
we expect accolades without investing in mastery –
we merely gorge to near-bursting on likes and shares
until forced to lie in wait and pray for our next meal.
