I spend way too much time on YouTube. I have YouTube music playing in the background when I’m working. I watch videos before I go to sleep. I use rain sound videos to stay asleep. I’m actually watching a submechanophobia video in between working on this post right now.
Of course, I have a list of favorite horror content creators on YouTube. And you’ll soon find that they all have one thing in common. They are sweet, kind people who love telling stories that scare the hell out of people. So today, let’s talk about my favorite horror creators on YouTube.
Celina Spooky Boo
This woman has so much chaotic energy, it’s infectious. And she just had a baby! And she’s still dialed up to eleven every time I see her.
Celina goes on ghost hunts. She tells spooky stories. She also writes spooky stories. All of this is fantastic. She also does some life vlogs and funny internet reactions. But let’s be honest, I’m here for the spooky.
Loey Lane
If you’re not already familiar with Loey, you are in for such a treat. Loey is a kind, sweet, bubbly woman who loves to find the scariest shit online and share it with her audience. I especially love when she gathers scary content from TikTok, since I’m not on that platform.
One of the best things on Loey’s channel is the videos explaining full ARGs online. Because I don’t have time to sit down and watch a whole series of Instagram reels, I love the eerie overviews she gives.
Heart Starts Pounding
Hosted by Kaelyn Moore, Heart Starts Pounding started as a podcast about ghost stories, true crime, and cryptids. Now, it’s a YouTube channel and podcast about those same topics.
I love how Kaelyn tells stories, curled up snugly in the Rough Detecting Society headquarters with her friendly ghost, Jinx. It’s like curling up with your best friend, telling each other ghost stories after everyone else in the slumber party has fallen asleep.
BizzareBub
As a skeptical believer and witch, do I think all of BizzareBub’s videos are real? Oh, hell no. But they’re sure fun.
This creator hosts videos of supernatural and frightening events from people all over the world. Dolls move. Pictures fall off walls. Eerie orbs menace cameras. It’s just an all-around good, spooky time.
Watcher
The Watcher channel is a great example of how, if you’re a shitty company and treat your people badly, your talent will leave and start their own, better company.
Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara once hosted a ghost hunting, cryptid, and true crime show on a website I’ll not be naming. When they left, they started their own company called Watcher.
Watcher has a lot of content. And I won’t say I don’t love me some Puppet History. But, of course, the best is the horror content.
Ghost Files is a popular series. But so are Mystery Files and Too Many Spirits. But my favorite Watcher show by far is Are You Scared. It’s a show where Ryan tells Shane scary stories submitted by fans. The stories are great. And the illustrations, done by Mollie Ong, are just fantastic. They remind me of the artwork from the original Scary Stories books. As I’m sure you know, that’s high praise indeed.
Alright, so what did I miss? What scary content creators on YouTube do you watch that I should check out? Let me know in the comments.
